An Authorised Unregistered Vehicle Inspection Report (formerly a blue slip) ensures that an unregistered vehicle is safe and meets identity and design standards. Before you register a light vehicle, you must ensure it qualifies for an Authorised Unregistered Vehicle Inspection Report. Then you can move ahead with registering your vehicle.
An eSafety inspection report (previously a pink slip) affirms that your vehicle is safe and can be legally driven on NSW roads. If you own a light vehicle that is more than 5 years old, it will require an eSafety check before you can register it. Your renewal papers will state whether it needs an inspection or not. If your vehicle passes the check, we will send the report to Roads and Maritime Services. If it fails, you’ll be issued with a report of what repairs are needed to pass, and if you can organise the repairs within 14 days and bring the vehicle back to us, the second check is free!
